Have you driven on the 5 best driving roads in the UK?
Planning your next UK road trip? Make sure you include these roads…
Road trips are famously the holiday of choice in the USA, and it’s true; they do tend to be more of an American thing. But why shouldn’t we join the fun here in the UK?!
Too often, we think of long car journeys as a dull, thankless task, as the worst bit of a holiday or mini break, the part that simply gets us from A to B. We should stop that mentality and make an effort to actually enjoy the drive – after all, it can often take up a lot of time, so it’s best not to waste it.
We also think that Chipex car paint touch up kit users will be the owners of some pretty impressive cars; you’ll probably put a lot of effort into making sure it not only looks as good as possible, but it runs perfectly too. And what better place to put this effort to the test (or show it off!) than on one of the UK’s great, sprawling country roads.
The UK is a country of stunning natural beauty, which we often don’t take the time to experience properly. A road trip will make sure that you do – as long as you choose the right roads. If you’re heading off on holiday soon, or you know there’s a long drive in your future, take the time to include one of these; the best UK roads for driving. Make sure you enjoy the view from your windscreen. We promise it will make you appreciate driving, and the country you live in, a lot more – and it will definitely liven up that long drive!
Kendal to Keswick – Lake District
The whole of the Lake District boasts scenic roads that will make your jaw drop, and this is regarded to be the most beautiful. The views of the lakes and hillsides are literally like a photo from a postcard – after all, this is the area that inspired the poetry of Wordsworth, so you know it’s going to be stunning. The high roads will also test your driving nerve, and are definitely a challenge for your bravery!
Black Mountain Road – Brecon Beacons
The most stunning location for a drive in the whole of Wales, this road through the mountains will twist and turn and give you the chance to take some incredible pictures – the views from this road are particularly spectacular in the evening when the sunset casts incredible shadows across the hills. The open roads of the Beacons give you the freedom to really cruise along, making the most of the hills, twists and turns along the way.
Cheltenham to Stratford – Cotswolds
The country roads of the Cotswolds are about as picturesque as you can get; lush green grass, picket fences, chocolate box cottages and winding lanes. Although you won’t want to miss a moment of scenery, keep your eyes on the road – those country lanes can get very twisty and you should keep your wits about you!
Isle of Wight Coast
If you ever find yourself on the Isle of Wight, take an afternoon to drive along the coastline. The view of the crashing waves and rocky shore are really worth taking in – and even if the weather is bad, it will be even more atmospheric and exciting!
